Brilliant red Fiesta (and indeed all the red glazes used in U.S. pottery of the 1930s) is known for having a detectable amount of uranium oxide in its glaze, which produced the orange-red color. This small cup is no exception. It readily sets the the Geiger Counter off at 765 CPM. It is, however, completely safe to handle, though we do not recommend drinking from it. Watch your friends eyes grow wide when you put your Geiger Counter next to this small dish.
