We founded our company on the idea that experiential learning is the best way to teach students about science and the natural world. We felt that rote memorization of theoretical concepts divorced from real-word experience is a recipe for a scientifically illiterate population. Thus, we decided to provide an alternative to the high theory/low experimentation model used in most public and private education systems.

60 years ago, when the great physicist, Richard Feynman visited Brazil, he discovered an education system in crisis. The reason was that students were memorizing facts divorced from context and real world experience. Students could quote their text books but could not apply their “knowledge” to the real world. In his words, the students “knew nothing.”

Fast forward to today. Education in the U.S. is now being done much as it was in Brazil 40 years ago. There is little experimentation allowed in classrooms, for many reasons: time, standardized testing, liabilities and litigation. The result is a great need for safe, effective supplemental education aids—for teachers who wish to provide a more experiential approach in the classroom, for parents who want to supplement their child's formal education, or for parents who home school.
